Double or Nothing 2023 Predictions

Predictions for AEW Double or Nothing 2023   Pillars Four-Way for the AEW World Title D arby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry vs. MJF (c) It is hard to see anyone but MJF going over here. While AEW has been prepping Jungle Boy for a more mainstream presence ever since they began incorporating the Jack Perry into his moniker, there doesn’t seem to be enough story behind a win, especially a first world title, yet. It seems more likely that there will be an extended run between Jack and MJF to see how he handles the spotlight for an extended period before giving him his run. Darby has done plenty to earn the belt, and his place as the face of the company, but he is so over with the fans that the title doesn’t enhance him much as an attraction. Fans love Darby for Darby, not because he is champion. Sammy was featured heavily during the AEW backstage show, and certainly has the looks and charisma to be the face of the company. He has paid his dues in...

Night of Champions Previews

Predictions for WWE Night of Champions 2023 World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final: Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles Between the sit down interviews on RAW, his current popularity, and positioning on WWE TV, there is very little reason to bet against Rollins here. Also, I thought the whole point of this World Title was for it to be on RAW, since Roman is on Smackdown, which is another strike against AJ. The only things I can see pointing against Rollins are his recent absences from TV due to filming a movie role, and because WWE is doing so much to hype Rollins as the contender, a la Cody Rhodes at Mania. No matter the outcome, the match should be spectacular. I’m going with the safe bet.  Winner: New World Champion Seth Rollins Tag Team Championship: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c) vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa The breakup of the bloodline is imminent, and this match seems like an ideal setting to create additional animosity. I can’t see Kevin and Sam...

Backlash Feedback

I can't remember ever seeing a more enthusiastic crowd for the duration of a show than the one on Saturday night in Puerto Rico for Backlash. Their energy and participation created a fantastic atmosphere for, what turned out to be, a tremendous show. My pre-show picks were 5-2, with one being Bianca, and the other being the Bloodline. I said in the post that the Bianca match was the hardest to predict, but it was a great showing by both competitors. I was genuinely surprised by the finish of the Bloodline match. It certainly helped to foster the dissention in the Bloodline, but I don't know if it did any favors for Riddle, Owens, or Sami.  Match of the night was Bad Bunny and Damien Priest. WWE has two celebrities who can perform on a level previously unheard of for non-wrestlers. The company needs to cement the relationship with Bad Bunny as soon as possible. The ending to the Cody Brock match seemed a little odd, I'm not sure if something happened, or if they were short o...

Wrestlemania Backlash Predictions

My thoughts and predictions for tonght's WWE’s premium live event.   Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar Unless there is a plan to do a protracted program with Cody and Brock over the summer, there is no reason for Cody not to go over here. I’m sure it will be a brutal affair, showing Cody’s resilience, fortitude, and ability, as he starts the rebuilding process from his Wrestlemania loss.  Pick: Cody Rhodes Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest (San Juan Street Fight) Bad Bunny was very impressive in his Wrestlemania debut and subsequent appearance in the Royal Rumble. Like Logan Paul, but not reviled by fans, he leverages his charisma and genuine skill with high spots to put on a good show. Priest, who by all rights should massacre Bad Bunny, will undoubtedly put on a bump-fest to help put over his friend. I expect run-ins from the Judgment Day and LWO before it is all over and Bunny wins, Purero Rico wins, crowd goes home happy.  Pick: Bad Bunny  SmackDown Women's Cha...

A note about the name...

The name, “DaDa Fashion Show” originated in the brain of my then 3 or 4 year old daughter. She was passing through the living room while I was watching wrestling. At that moment, Charlotte Flair, in all her feathered, jeweled, and simmering glory, appeared from backstage. Her arrival was a magnificent spectacle full of cascading pyrotechnics, thumping music, and orchestrated movement. My daughter was mesmerized by the sudden emergence of the super heroine like figure and stated quietly as the self-professed Queen consumed the television screen. As the pomp and circumstance receded, my daughter turned to me and asked: “Dada, are you watching a fashion show?” Ever since that fateful question, pro-wrestling was rebranded as “Dada Fashion Show.
